E-File Deadlines
E-file will close for most taxpayers Oct. 17th. Rejected returns can be re-submitted through Oct. 20th.
The Internal Revenue Service reminds taxpayers who live or have a business in areas affected by Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Irene, Tropical Storm Lee and the Texas wildfires that they have until Oct. 31st to meet certain tax filing and payment obligations. E-File will remain available to accept these returns through 11am local submission processing center time Oct. 31st.
The IRS encourages any taxpayer who wants to include a payment by electronic funds withdrawal with their tax return to e-file by Oct. 20th. E-file returns that include an EFW payment after this date will be rejected. Visit www.irs.gov for information on payment alternatives.
