We’ve recently discovered that in certain electronically-filed 2008 Fiduciary (1041) returns, Form 8879-F was not included in the transmission. As a result, the IRS has notified some 1041 taxpayers that they need to complete a 2008 Form 8453-F with required signatures and either mail or fax it to the IRS along with the IRS notice they received. Therefore, if any of your clients who filed a 2008 1041 tax return receive a notice from IRS requesting a Form 8453-F, please do the following: · Remove the PIN information from Form 8879-F in the original e-filed 1041 return to automatically generate a Form 8453-F · Obtain the required signatures from your client on the form · Within ten days from the receipt of the IRS notice, mail the completed Form 8453-F – and a copy of the IRS notice - to the IRS at: Department of the Treasury Mail Stop 1056 1973 N. Rulon White Blvd Ogden, UT 84404 · Or alternatively, you may fax the completed Form 8453-F - and the IRS notice - to IRS fax number 877-477-0575 within ten days from the receipt of the IRS notice. Be sure to write, “Attention Chris” on the cover letter. We apologize for this inconvenience. 1041 E-File Team
